Getting Started

I am a registered Tajan user. How do I bid live?

If you are a registered Tajan user, you must complete a request for approval to bid live. To check your request, log into your Tajan account. Then click "My Live Auctions". If the auction title displays, you have requested approval to bid and you can see your approval status in the center column. If the auction title doesn't display, you have not yet requested approval to bid.

How can I read a message from the auction house?

You can see email messages between you and the auction house in "My Live Messages".

To read a message from the auction house, log in. Once you log in you'll be in "Auctions" -> "Bid Live" -> "My Live Messages" Inbox. To read each message, click the Subject line.

How can I see a message I sent?

You can see email messages between you and the auction house in "My live Messages".

To see messages you sent to the auction house, log in. Once you log in you'll be in "Auctions" -> "Bid Live" -> "My Live Messages" Inbox. In the View drop-down menu, choose Sent. If you have sent any messages, they will display here.

How can I see if I'm approved to bid?

To see if you are approved to bid, log in. Then click "My Live Auctions". Look for the auction name on the left side of the page. In the Approval Status column, you will see "Approved" if you are approved to bid.

How can I find out about my approval status?

You can send a message to inquire about your approval status. Just follow these steps:

1. Log in and click "Auctions" -> "Bid Live" -> My Live Auctions.
2. Click on the white envelope icon next to the selected sale (it's on the right).
3. Select Bidding Approval from the subject drop down menu, write a message, and click Send.

When I clicked Request Approval nothing happened. What should I do?

If nothing happens when you click Request Approval, check to make sure that your browser accepts third-party cookies. You must accept third-party cookies to register and bid in the auction. To accept cookies and complete your registration, you must change settings in your browser.

Firefox users: At the top of your browser window, click "Tools" Options. Click on the Privacy tab. The cookie settings display in the middle of the window. Make sure that "Accept cookies from sites" and "Accept third party cookies" are both checked. Click OK.

Internet Explorer users: At the top of your browser window, click "Tools" Internet Options. Then click on the Privacy tab. Click Advanced. Click the checkbox to "Override automatic cookie handling." Choose "Accept" for both First-party Cookies and Third-party Cookies. Click OK, then click OK again.

After you have changed your cookie settings, press F5 on your keyboard to reload your web page. Then log in and find your auction. Follow the prompts to complete your request for approval to bid. When you click Request Approval, you should see a confirmation of your request.

Did I register for the auction?

To find out if you registered for an auction, log in and click "My Live Auctions". If you see the auction listed, you have registered for it.

How can I request a higher bid limit?

You can send a message to inquire about bid limit, condition, consignment, shipping, or anything else. Just follow these steps:

1. Log in, and go to "Auctions" -> "Bid Live" -> "My Live Auctions".
2. Click on the white envelope icon next to the selected sale (it's on the right).
3. Choose a subject from the drop-down menu, type in a message, and click Send.

How can I bid live online in an auction?

To bid live online, log in. Then click "Auctions" -> "Live Bid". Find the sale you want to bid in and click the Bid Now button (it's on the right). A bidding console will open in a new browser window.

What is a bid limit?

A bid limit is the total amount you are permitted to bid in a sale. You won't be permitted to place bids beyond your bid limit.

How can I get information on a specific lot?

You can send a message to inquire about bid limit, condition, consignment, shipping, or anything else. Just follow these steps:

My Bids

How can I see my bids after the auction?

To see your bids after the auction, log in. Then click "Auctions" -> "Bid Live" -> "My Live Bids". Click Show Bid History to see the bids placed on the lot.

Lots I Won

How can I see lots I won?

To see lots you won in an auction, log in. Then click "Auctions" -> "Bid Live" -> "My Live Won Lots". All lots you won display on this page.

How can I get information about lots I won?

To get information about lots you won in an auction, log in. Then click "Auctions" -> "Bid Live" -> "My Live Lots Won". Click on the white envelope icon next to the selected lot (it's on the right). Choose a subject from the drop-down menu, type in a message, and click Send.

How do I change my account information?

To change your account information, log in. Then click "Auctions" -> "Bid Live" -> "Registration Update". Make your changes, then click the Send button (it's at the bottom of the page). The screen will refresh and at the top you'll see the message "Thank you. You will receive confirmation of your changes by email shortly."

Can I watch the auction without registering?

To watch the live auction, click "Auctions" -> "Live Bid", then click the "Watch Now" button.

Why can't I see the Bidder Console?

If you experience any technical problems with the Bidder Console, follow the troubleshooting steps below:

Step 1: Verify your Internet connection
Can you get to other websites? Try www.cnn.com
If you cannot connect to the internet contact your Internet Service Provider or your Network expert.

Step 2: Verify you are using the Minimum System Requirements listed below:

Mac:
OS: OSX 10.5 or 10.6
Processor: PPC or Intel
RAM: 512MB
Browsers: Safari 4 (with 10.5 only); Firefox 3 (with 10.6 only)
Java: 1.6 or later

The Invaluable Live! Console does NOT support:
OS: Windows 2000 or earlier, Mac OSX 10.4 or earlier
Browsers: Netscape, Opera, Chrome
Internet Connection: We do not support dialup or wireless Internet

Step 3: Verify you have the latest version of Java running on your computer
Close down the Bidder Console and go to www.java.com to download and install Java (Free Download)

Step 4: Verify Java is ENABLED:
If you are using Internet Explorer, go to "View or Tools (depending on your version)" "Internet Options" Advanced and make sure that "Use JRE 1.6" (or greater) is checked under the Java section.

If you are using Firefox, go to "Tools" "Options". Click on "Content". Make sure that "Enable Java" and "Enable Java Script" are selected.

Step 5: Clear your browser Cookies and Cache
In Internet Explorer, go to "Tools" "Internet Options" General and click the "Delete Files" button under the "Temporary Internet files" section. Click OK.

In Firefox, go to "Tools" "Options" Privacy, and then select "Clear" next to History, Cookies, Cache. Click OK.

If you have verified steps 1 through 5 above - and still cannot load the Bidder Console - you may have a Firewall or Security Software conflict preventing the application from loading.

Step 6: Firewall & Security Software conflicts:
*Disable your computer's individual Firewall and Security software.

*Open your virus protection and/or security software and disable the Firewall and/or security software for the duration of the auction.

What are the Audio/Video Requirements?


General Information
*Use the corresponding play and pause buttons for viewing the video and listening to audio.
*Note: You must have sound support as well as speakers or headphones connected to your computer to hear the audio. If you do not hear the audio after pressing the play button, make sure that the sound is not muted or the volume set too low.
*If you are having trouble viewing the video or hearing the sound after checking these basic steps, see other details below.
