    Notes:
As thematic, I started having in mind the series of works called “how deep the rabbit hole goes”. If in 2008 I used culled images from the Internet and old advertising archives, here it is a setup I made myself, using my own images, the central figure is me posing with my head in a pillow, the background forest is a picture taken during last winter close to Cluj area. It means a lot to me stepping out of the influences of ready-made images and controlling my own compositions.
If in the series mentioned I was recycling found images, now I propose a direct and honest approach of my imagery.
I started the painting remembering a wallpaper that was in the dining room of a family friend where I used to spend evenings while my parents where partying (it was quite common during communism to decorate your walls with photographic wallpapers depicting landscapes). It’s a staring point of using this technique of gathering photographic images along with painting.
Regarding the technique, I used acrylic color, oil over monoprint and monoprint on linen. I am extremely proud of the monoprint technique as I can call it my own. I discovered it by mistake, using prints on plastic, covered by acryl color. I noticed that I could transfer the image on any surface obtaining a unique surface and structure. I am trying to put on the same surface different techniques in order to improve the esthetic language of painting.
I follow the paths of John Baldessari and Sigmar Polke that talk about the relation between photography and painting, a philosophy that I adopted.
My message is about reclusion, memory, the relationship between interiority and the exterior, solitude, guilt, and desire.
