Post-War & Contemporary Art Sale
June 7 at 7pm at Tajan in Paris

Beautiful evening sale

PARIS – The Contemporary Art department of Tajan Auction House is unveiling an exclusive selection of key works to be presented at its prestige sale of “Post-War and Contemporary Art” on June 7.

Post-war Abstract Expressionism is in the spotlight with two major artists from this period, notably Nicolas de Staël (1914-1955) who produced the oil on canvas La part du Vent in 1944-45, and the artist Willem De Kooning (1904-1997) with an oil, graphite and charcoal on paper entitled Woman, produced in 1946.

Other key works include the mixed media Relleu Marró, created in 1958 by Antoni Tàpies (1923-2012), and a selection of kinetic artworks including an oil on canvas by Victor Vasarely (1906-1997) dated 1984 and a silkscreen on aluminium and plastic strips entitled Physichromie 1084 by Carlos Cruz Diez (1923-2019). A number of previously unseen acrylics on canvas by Robert Combas (b. 1957) will be on show, including Suite des alchimies created in collaboration with Pierre Ladislas Kijno (1921-2012).

Contemporary American art will be in the spotlight, starting with the acrylic on panel Entry Way (Genealogical Chart) by Mike Kelley (1954-2012), created in 1995, and the oil on canvas Falling Cat by Dana Schutz, painted in 2011.

Finally, on the sculpture front, amateurs of Wang Keping will discover a fine collection of three wood sculptures by the artist.
