Exhibition: “Viewpoint” by Serban Savu

Serban Savu

Viewpoint

Until December 24, 2024

Tajan honors the Romanian artist Serban Savu who represents his country at the Venice Biennale this year. Similar to the American master Edward Hopper who depicted the essence of the American life, Serban Savu illustrates in a magical way the heart and soul of Romania and its difficult daily transition from the fall of Communism.

“The point of view is distant and almost always overhanging in Savu’s paintings. […] For several years, his observation post was none other than the window of his studio on the upper floor of a former factory. From there, he scanned the surroundings, tracking the slightest event – a cleaning lady shaking out her equipment, numerous window washers and fitters, a man tying his shoe.”
