Auction on March 8, 2025 at 2:30 pm in Paris

On March 8, Tajan, already present in the field of Franco-Belgian comics, launches its first sale of manga and japanimation, a highly promising sector given the success of manga in France, particularly with the “Club Dorothée” generation.

Among the highlights on offer on March 8 are Premium cellulos of Nausicaa by Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, Goldorak / Mazinger Z, Dragon Ball Z SSJ, Cobra, Sailor Moon, Knights of the Zodiac, Naruto, One Piece, Albator, Astroby and Candy, as well as original plates for Osamu Tezuka’s Princess Sapphire and Buichi Terasawa’s Cobra, and a very large Hanken of Takahata’s 1974 Heidi by Miyazaki.

In the comics field, the auction house is already announcing a Steve Canyon cover by Milton Caniff, and in the Franco-Belgian field, very fine drawings by Hergé for Yvon postcards, a Corto Maltese plate and cover, very fine drawings by Bilal for Animal Z and a magnificent cover by Ledroit for the Wika series. An exceptional sale.

City Hunter / Nicky Larson, 1987 – Studio Sunrise

Hanken pan cel original inked and gouached on an original background composed of several layers of original celluloid for a grandiose effect! We see Ryo Saeba / Nicky Larson in French, coming to collect his private detective mission on the anonymous Shinjuku board in Tokyo.
A myth is born. Indeed, for decades, in front of the old alta studio in front of shinjuku station, people came to consult the open advertisements. Even today, giant City Hunter paintings can be found as you leave the station on the Shinkansen (fast train). This proves the place this series has taken in the hearts not only of the Japanese, but of people all over the world. With a large oversized format, this vertical Hanken Pan cel used vertical scrolling from bottom to top to give the scene an even greater sense of height and realism. With Nicky seen from below, in three-quarter view, and the buildings distorted to give a sense of movement towards the sky.
One of the most mythical for all Tokyoites.

Hayao Miyazaki (né en 1941) / Isai Takahata (1935-2018)
Heidi, 1974

One of the highlights of our catalog is this large original Hanken with its painted background and inked and gouache celluloid of Heidi and her friends: Peter (Pierre in the French version), Hercule (the dog), as well as the goat Biquette and even a bird and dragonflies. This work is a museum piece, and should be in the Heidi Museum in Maienfeld, Switzerland. For it represents the Ghibli Museum before it was created. But Takahata and Miyazaki travelled abroad for the first time, to Switzerland, to make Heidi, which was to revolutionize animation worldwide. The first work to be translated into Hebrew in Israel, whose people identify with the cause of this little mountain girl. Heidi is a Swiss icon, a symbol. Since Heidi, Switzerland has come to represent the height of exoticism, with its mountains and pure air, for the Japanese. What’s more, the format and the way the paintings and celluloid were created by the founders of Studio Ghibli are nothing short of historic. It’s without doubt the finest piece of work imaginable from Miyazaki and the late Takahata (author of Tomb of the Fireflies). Heidi la petite orpheline, petite fille des Alpes (in the French version), touched everyone in 1974. It was thanks to Heidi that other cartoons such as Candy and Princess Sarah became so popular. A mythical, unique and essential piece. Perfect condition.
