Modern and Impressionist Art auction – Tuesday 29th of March 2018
On the 29th of March, Tajan Modern Art department, organizes an evening sale about an important selection of modern and impressionist paintings and sculptures. This auction presents some of the most important painters of the movement.
The auction inaugurates Tajan spring sales session with several lots of Bernard Buffet's paintings. Tajan Modern Art's department is specialized in this French artist, we remember, for example, the "Torero" paiting, sold 214 400€ and December 2016, and also the "Tête de Clown" on November 2017. Among these paintings, we note the splendid "Les Poires dans un compotier" realized by Bernard Buffet when he was 23 years old, showing his preconscious talent.
The sale presents too the artist Albert Marquet who spent his life travelling between rivers bank of Mediterranean and of The Seine, and painting landscape and water (his favorite subjects). Four paintings will remember the history of French Postimpressionist painter, thank to four very important dates during the artist’s life : 1910 – Paris views , that characterize his career. At that time his landscapes are urban. After 1917 – A summer in Samois, where he left free his love for the Seine’s river banks. 1923- He started on his honeymoon with Sidi-Bou-Saïd. He painted different points of views on the blue waters of bays and villages. 1939 – He set up in Frette near Paris and he admires the Seine and his rivers banks.
