Located in the heart of the 8th arrondissement of Paris, Tajan welcomes you in its beautiful Art Deco setting from Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm.
Why carry out an inventory?
We can assist you in various situations: whether for family reasons (inheritance, preparation of an estate, donation, division, marriage…), to draw up an insurance policy, or simply to enhance the value of a collection or your movable assets, Tajan Auction House can carry out your appraisals and inventories.
1. Inheritance, gifts and sharing
In the context of inheritance, divorce or division of property, an inventory drawn up by an auctioneer can have legal value and serve as official proof. In the event of a dispute, this detailed inventory, signed by an expert, is often considered a reliable and impartial reference, providing legal guarantees to the parties involved.
2. Enhancing and protecting your assets
Drawing up an inventory with an auctioneer is a way to secure your possessions in cases of theft, loss or disaster. This detailed document can be used for insurance declarations, to prove the value of items and facilitate reimbursement in the event of loss.
It also provides a starting point for a fair estimate in the event of revaluation.
3. Optimizing your collection
When an inventory is carried out by an auctioneer, it goes beyond simply listing objects. The expert can also advise the owner on the best way to showcase his or her possessions and on suitable sales opportunities.
Thanks to our experience of the market, our auctioneers can suggest strategic bids, advise on the timing of sales and direct buyers to the most appropriate sales channels.
4. Transparency assurance
The involvement of an auctioneer guarantees a transparent and impartial procedure. As a professional, he or she ensures fair management of the inventory, with no conflicts of interest.
Our auctioneers and specialists have in-depth knowledge of the objects and the market in all fields of Art, as well as the tax rules to be applied, and are accompanied by the best experts in each speciality. They will be happy to put their experience and skills at your disposal, guaranteeing you a fair and objective valuation of your goods, in complete confidentiality.
Inventory: how does it work?
1 – Would you like to take an inventory of your belongings at home? It is easy! Book an appointment by email at [email protected] or by telephone on +33 1 53 30 30 18. During this initial contact, you’ll describe your project, the type of goods involved (antique furniture, works of d’art, collectibles, etc.) and the purpose of the inventory (valuation for sale, inheritance, division, insurance, etc.). We’ll tell you how to proceed and what to expect.
2 – In-home inventory: whether you live in France or abroad, our auctioneers and experts come to meet you. Here is how it works:
Property inspection: The auctioneer inspects each piece of furniture and object, noting important details such as general condition, signs of wear, any restorations, brand, style, period, or provenance of the pieces.
Photographs and documentation: Each object is photographed from different angles, and precise details are noted (dimensions, materials, period, etc.). If the object has a particular value or interesting history, the auctioneer documents it accordingly.
Estimating value: Based on his expertise and the market, the auctioneer assesses the value of each piece. To do this, he may compare objects with similar sales in the past, or refer to specialized catalogs, databases and expert appraisals by other professionals.
Detailed notetaking: Each object is listed in a precise document, including its description, estimated value, and other relevant information (provenance, history, repairs, etc.).
Our experts in art, antiques, jewellery, watches and collectibles put their know-how to work to accurately appraise each property.
3 – Get your inventory
After an in-depth study of each item, you will receive a precise list of your furniture and objects, appraised and valued, as soon as possible. Each item will be listed, numbered, photographed, described and appraised.
What to do with this inventory?
If the inventory is to be sold by auction or otherwise, the auctioneer can offer advice on how to market the goods, the best strategies and timetables for sale. He can also recommend secure storage options for high-value or fragile items prior to sale.
