Design & Architecture auction : Pucci de Rossi, the artist’s private collection

Next June 1st, Tajan auction house will honor the Italian sculptor and “fake designer” Pucci de Rossi (born in 1947). He represents the art of manipulating at the same time derision, diversion and precious materials in order to sublimate everyday objects. We’ll have the pleasure to sell at auction forty lots of the artist’s private collection. Among them, you will find a pair of hippocampal sculptures (lot 43 ), lamps and an amazing series of blown glass sculptures (lot 65 to 67), or even a bronze “Satyricon” coat rack (lot 57).

On Wednesday, May 31, at 6 pm, the Decorative Art and Design department invite you to the preview presentation of the Pucci de Rossi’s monograph, published by Norma Editions. The signature will be animated by the author Jean-Louis Gaillemin and will take place at the Espace Tajan, 37 rue des mathurins, Paris 8 (under booking  [email protected]). It will be followed by a drink.

The Design auction of the next day will call to mind the material, shapes and light, through 200 exclusive lots, including a rare coffee table by the Japanese architect named Toyō Itō. Recognized as the creator of conceptual architecture, Toyō Itō searchs to express the physical and the virtual world at the same time. Therefore, the form becomes an abstraction but also a dematerialization. The discovery of acrylic materials allows him to create, like Zaha Hadid, translucent tables which seem to be temporarily frozen water masses but in perpetual evolution. The final result is at the same time lightness and fragility but also progress and evolution. The table “Matsumoto four” in translucent plexiglass is estimated between 60 000 – 80 000 euros (lot 13).
