Tajan is pleased to announce its prestige sale of “Luxury Fashion, Leather Goods & Accessories” on December 14 in Paris, to coincide with the festive season. To light up Christmas Eve, there is nothing like Chanel: a midnight blue quilted lambskin flap bag with gold jewellery (No. 117790-12), vintage Chanel Haute Couture outfits that combine chic and elegance, and a collection of designer jewellery (flocon brooch No. 118108-30) to enhance festive outfits.
Among the highlights is a rare Louis Vuitton secretary trunk (no. 119050-1) with a moving history. This trunk once belonged to Baroness Frieda Von Seidlitz, an aristocratic resistance fighter who became a member of the KPD (German Communist Party) in 1931. She was the fiancée of German resistance fighter Martin Weise, and worked in direct collaboration with Fritz Hodel, who had previously headed the Red Aid sub-district in Weißensee. Together, they organised the escape of 40 to 50 threatened resistance fighters. Frieda Seidlitz was living “illegally” in Berlin and held a key position in the Red Aid resistance movement. Unfortunately, she was arrested by the Gestapo in April 1936. This rare trunk, which the Louis Vuitton Archives situate between 1924 and 1929, tells a wonderful story of one woman’s courage, resilience and determination. One can only imagine the letters that would have been written on its retractable desk. So not only is it a remarkable piece of craftsmanship from one of the world’s greatest trunk makers, it is also a charming object that tells an important story that must not be forgotten.
Hermès has rivalled inventiveness with a wide range of emblematic bags from the House, “Kelly” (from 28 to 40 cm) and “Birkin” coloured in paradise blue (N°118172-5) or coral red (n°118172-16). Among these key pieces, an original three-tone saddle-stitched “Kelly” in natural leather, red and sapphire blue is sure to find a buyer (n°119027-1). Montblanc is also taking part in the start of the winter season with a limited edition box paying tribute to the philosopher Voltaire (n°119218-4).
Bidders will be delighted to put a Dior gift under the tree, with the famous “Lady” bag, or a collection of snow globes from Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior for warm, snowy holidays.
