Boxes – Cigarette Cases – Lighters – Pens
Cigar Holders – Pipes – Alarm Clocks

This collection, the result of 40 years of passionate research, brings together nearly a hundred Art Deco objects. It exemplifies the most alluring achievements of this movement: objects that are both useful and beautiful, crafted with exceptional skill, born from a close collaboration between designers and artisans.

This remarkable ensemble includes a wide variety of pieces: boxes, cases, powder compacts, and lighters in red or black lacquer or eggshell, as well as pipes, cigar holders, and pens in nielloed silver signed LORO (Fernand Laureau), in eggshell lacquer, or even in gold. It features creations by the House of Lancel, as well as by Cartier, Boucheron, Mellerio dits Meller, Hermès, and lesser-known jewellers such as Strauss, Allard & Meyer, Auguste Peyroulx, Jean Trotain, Robert Murat, Sasportas… not to mention the works of great artists like Jean Dunand.

Monsieur de C.

It was during his studies in architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts that he discovered the great figures of the Modern Movement: Mallet-Stevens, Eileen Gray, and Mies van der Rohe. This aesthetic revelation shaped his taste for the purity of lines, the balance of volumes, and graphic harmony. More than market value or prestigious signatures, it is the immediate appeal that guides his choices. According to him, the ideal object must combine the era (1925–30), motifs, colour (ideally red/black/white), and precious materials.

His collection began with pens, instruments particularly dear to the architect’s heart. He soon developed a passion for rare nielloed silver models by LORO (Fernand Laureau), which are difficult to find and highly sought after. Today, his collection, comprising around 20 pens, is one of the most important known.

LANCEL

The House of Lancel

During his travels, Monsieur de C. met the curator of the House’s internal museum, who entrusted him with the mission of locating pieces dating from the 1920s–1930s. For more than ten years, this “hunter of objects” acquired cigarette cases, lighters, pipes, cigar holders, ashtrays, and other smoking accessories, which at the time constituted Lancel’s speciality, long before the brand devoted itself exclusively to leather goods.
