From the bird to the feather
In the exquisite selection of jewellery and gemstones assembled by Tajan’s Jewellery Department for the sale on 9 December, we present an exceptionally rare brooch, both in terms of iconography and the remarkable history of Van Cleef & Arpels. This brooch faithfully represents a majestic feather, entirely set with diamonds in a bead setting on a delicate platinum mount. Following the great success of the collection of three jewellery birds by the same House, which realised a total of €200,000 last July, we are delighted to introduce this new iconic piece.
The feather brooch dates from 1927. It is believed it could be worn as a lapel brooch, but particularly on the hat, an essential accessory for the elegant woman of the period. The feather is a decorative motif elevated to its pinnacle by Van Cleef & Arpels, marrying the art of jewellery with the passion of the collector.
