Next 15th November, Espace Tajan and Tajan Platform Live organize an Islamic Art sale. There will be oriental paintings, some Islamic art works from the lot 83 and around 160 various lots. Oriental ceramics and glasswork lovers will be fascinated by Izniz plates, vases and pitchers. The auction will present also furniture like Syrian plate tables, manuscripts and beautiful textiles. 

LOT 126. POLYCHROME MARBLE AND MOTHER-PEARL MOSAIC PANEL

Polychrome marble rectangular mosaic panel: red, green, yellow, black. Decorated by a geometric composition with polygonal intertwined stars. Egypt, circa 1910 in the Mamluk style. 

This amazing marble panel by mother-of-pearl encrusted comes from Boghos Nubar palace in Hélipolis, dedicated to him. Boghos Nubar was born in Alexandria in 1851 and he is the son of Nubar Pacha, Egyptian of Armenian origin, who was the Egyptian Prime Minister. This big panel is created for decorating walls’ paneling of his palace and after brought to France where Nubar Pacha moved during the Second World War. 

During Mamluk time, pearly marble mosaic was a typical element of the most important monuments. He is quite rare and his decoration’s persistence doesn’t allow a right dating. > More Info

Lot 231. COPPER SILVER ENCRUSTED CANDLESTICK FROM HOLSTEIN COLLECTION

Big and rare copper silver encrusted candlestick. The body is decorated by a big banner written in arab with a beautiful calligraphy and animals. Iran or Djezireh, middle XIII- middle XIVe centuries.

The banker and silk merchant Prosper Holstein (1843-1926) is one of the biggest Oriental Art collector of the end of XIX century. His is very famous for his weapons collections and for his book “Contribution à l’étude des armes orientales” published in 1931 and written for his passion. > More Info
